About The Tribal Community
Tribal lending is the most misunderstood corner of American consumer credit — marketed as free money by bad actors, condemned wholesale by people who have never needed it, and used by millions of borrowers whom state-licensed lenders decline. The Tribal Community exists to be the honest middle: explain how the product actually works, publish the actual costs, and connect the people who decide it fits with direct tribal lenders.
What we are
A free informational resource and loan connection service. We are not a lender, we do not make credit decisions, and we charge borrowers nothing. When you submit a request, it goes to independent third-party lenders — including lenders owned by federally recognized tribes — that serve your state. The lender writes the offer; you decide.
The four commitments
- Costs in the first paragraph. Tribal APRs are high — we print the range before any pitch, on every page, because a borrower who knows the total repayment is the borrower who never gets trapped.
- Sovereignty explained, not hidden. Tribal sovereign immunity changes your legal remedies. We say so everywhere it applies, not buried in a disclosure.
- State reality respected. Availability, caps, and alternatives differ across all 51 jurisdictions — our state guides document each one.
- Alternatives always offered. Where a state-licensed product or a credit union PAL fits better, our pages say so.
